10 Ways to Keep the Excitement
Author: Bette Daoust, Ph.D.
How can you become excited about what you do and what you sell on a daily basis? The answer is as simple as getting goals.
Have you ever attend an event or watched a motivational speaker and gone back to the office all hyped up and ready to implement the process or use the product? I know I have and a couple of days later, I find that I am back to my old routines and back to my old products that are adequate. Most events will get you going but they lack a follow-through to help keep you going to change your habits. In order to influence change, you need to be excited each day. This is not an easy thing to do but here are ten ways that will help keep that excitement alive.
- Have a goal to work towards
- Implement the changes one small step at a time. This way you can get used to the new ways bit by bit and you will not notice the big change in the long run.
- Make it your motto to be a part of the change and to facilitate its use
- Plan your steps along the way
- Use the product or service if it is your company's offering. There is nothing like taking a dose of your own medicine to make improvements
- If you are having difficulty with some part of the change, work with another person to get over the hump and move on
- Practice the new procedure until it becomes second nature. Just like driving a car, first you have to think about what you are doing until you have a few miles under your belt.
- Look for ways to improve on the change, make it a challenge to make it better
- Persist when you do not agree with some part of the change, and allow yourself to give suggestions on why this may not work
- Practice smiling when you answer the phone
Anyone can give this same advice and anyone can listen but only a few will use the advice to their advantage. Put together an action list for yourself and get excited about what you sell.
