Online moms – Have you ever been driving down the freeway and realized you just passed your exit? Or you went to the computer to look up ‘online moms’ and could not remember what it was you were going to look up?
Life as a mom can be that way. We have many things on our minds as well as our little ones demanding our full undivided attention. What ends up happening is our attention is never fully given to one thing. As moms we try to accommodate everyone and everything. Our kids suffer because they don’t feel they are getting “all of us” and we suffer because we aren’t able to find time or energy to get it “all” done. What a frustrating, guilt-infested corner that puts us in!! Wouldn’t it be nice to crawl into bed at night with that comfortable satisfying feeling of knowing the house is clean and all of our ducks are in a row? So how can we get our ducks in a row and go to bed knowing that we did the best we could for the day? In the many books, articles, and studies I’ve done, there are 6 common steps that are continuously listed that online moms should take advantage of.
1. Go to bed early!!
2. Plan – Spend a few minutes to an hour planning your day and making sure that what you have planned is going in the direction of your long term goals. (That is, after you know what those are)
3. Affirmations – Affirmations are the words you say to yourself, think about, and begin to believe. “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind will achieve” –Dr. Napoleon Hill
Your beliefs determine your actions, and your actions determine your results. By continually repeating affirmations, you will master your mind and gain control of your life. For every goal you have, write an affirmation to back it up. For example, if your goal is to spend 15 minutes everyday playing a game with your child, a great affirmation would be, “I spend quality time with _____ everyday.”
4. Action – This is what can make you different from everyone else. Most people will not take this step. Action is crucial!!! Just a small action toward your goal everyday will add up with big results in the end. A good question to ask yourself:
‘What is one thing I can do today, that I don’t want to do, but if I did, would get
me closer to my goal?’ Once you take that action step, you will begin to feel a
higher connection to yourself and gain control of who you are.
5. Power of association - You must be aware of who you are spending time with. Who are you listening to? Being around positive happy people, is much more beneficial to you than people that have low standards and are always looking at the negative side of things. Surround yourself with people that you want to be like. Connect with people that have done more than you.
6. Go to bed early!! This is important so you are refreshed in the morning. If you Have a good nights sleep, chances are much higher that you will wake up early to plan for the day. Planning is key!!! Don’t be the sailboat without a rudder.
Taking on the 6 above steps will dramatically change your life. Doing one thing everyday towards your goal will help build your self-confidence. The more self-confidence you have, the more things you will try. “Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs” –Henry Ford This is absolutely true!!! Henry Ford knew what he was talking about!! So listen up online moms, the next time you come across the exit on the freeway that you need to take, you will likely do so because you have taken control of your mind.
