When Commissioner Bud Selig told the Yankees to remove their apology sign regarding the star players who chose to play in the World Baseball Classic, David Wells was not happy about the commissioner’s opinions. Apparently David Wells was so upset about the issue that he told a reporter that Bud Selig should resign. Wells was quoted stating he did not feel Selig was capable of doing his job and communicating with those involved in the league. He also stated that “nobody likes him”.
Since the comments were made however, things have changed. David Wells has issued an apology for his reaction to Bud Selig’s orders to remove the sign. Wells did say he should not have been so harsh against Selig, but he did state he still disagrees with the commissioner. Those representing Bud Selig had noted that his office had not received an apology from David Wells at this time. All in all, it seems that although David Wells is not willing to retract his statement he is trying to save a little face and apologize for his words. Chances are that even though fans will forgive Wells for his inappropriate outburst, Bud Selig is not soon going to forget the comments.
