Fat Remover to the Rescue!

One of the procedures cosmetic surgeons have in their bag of tricks is called liposuction. It is the power to remove those stubborn, unwanted fatty deposits that just will not disappear any other way.

What do gym rats, athletes, walkers, and joggers have in common? No matter how hard they try, some of them still have little spots of fat that just won’t go away. It doesn’t mean they are still overweight; it just means that there isn’t really any exercise or movement that can truly get that the last bit of “love handle” or “saddle bag.”  Isn’t there some superhero for that? Shouldn’t there be?

Oddly enough, there is. Well, not technically a superhero, but perhaps a hero to many. Who is it? A highly skilled and experienced cosmetic surgeon.

One of the procedures cosmetic surgeons have in their bag of tricks is called liposuction. It is the power to remove those stubborn, unwanted fatty deposits that just will not disappear any other way.

Liposuction. The name pretty much says it all. Or does it? Generally viewed as the best form of liposuction, tumescent liposuction was developed to allow greater control in the removal of the fatty tissue.

How it Works

To begin, a diluted solution of anesthetic and other necessary medications is used to the fill the fatty layer of skin. The solution reacts with the excess fat making it swollen and firm. The firmness makes it much more controllable during the removal process.

Since a general anesthetic is not required with tumescent liposuction, the patient is awake during the procedure and is, therefore, at much less risk from complications. A bonus here is that, since the patient is awake, they can turn or move as the surgeon needs and the results are a more sculpted and natural look. Another bonus is that tumescent liposuction is done on an outpatient basis.

Cosmetic surgeons have reported that their patients who underwent tumescent liposuction had less bleeding, less bruising and quicker recoveries than with other forms of liposuction. Also, the surgeons were able to remove deeper, more superficial layers of fat, giving their patients the contoured results they truly hoped for.

As with any surgical procedure there are risks. You should always consult an experienced cosmetic surgeon and be sure you are fully aware of all the risks and rewards of any procedure you consider, including tumescent liposuction.

Christmas is just around the corner. Wouldn’t that be a great present to yourself? To have tumescent liposuction and get rid of those pesky, unresponsive-to-anything-you-try spots?
