The online encyclopedia. A good jumping off point. Caution, can be updated and edited by users. Introduce your children to fact checking.
Gives great information about states and capitals, along with state bird,flower,tree,flag,ect...

Research maps of any country. Gives political and physical maps along with a wealth of other information about any country you choose.
Download and print classic literature.
We don't use a particular curriculum in our home school because we can find such a store of information online. My son is excited about school and actually searches for more sites to incorporate into his schooling. Instead of sitting at a desk doing worksheets or taking notes, he's actually researching historical events and reading classic literature. He's not just learning when and where something happened, he's learning why.
Technology has opened a world of opportunities for our children to learn. Don't overlook this great homeschool resource.
