In studying late season hurricanes in the Atlantic me see a two to one ratio of eastern seaboard side hurricanes to Gulf of Mexico hurricane strikes. This is because late season hurricanes have a habit of hugging the eastern seaboard and traveling Northward and then heading off to out into the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the worst hurricanes on record have been very late in the Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season. The Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season is far from over yet.
The United States of America has been very lucky this year with only two names storms through July of 2006 and yet August and September are generally the most devastating of all hurricane months. FEMA and other government agencies are ready just in case the middle third of the hurricane season is as devastating as in previous years. Please consider all this in 2006.
