Making a Passive Income by Using the Net

A description of how to earn a passive income online; some of the benefits and some examples of how it can work.

There are probably not a lot of people who wouldn’t jump on the chance to earn themselves a large passive income. This is the kind of money you make by doing little to no work. It means that you get to sit back or go about your regular daily routine while something out there is making you money—passively.

The internet is becoming one of the most pointed out ways of earning that kind of money for so many reasons. In some cases a profit making web page can act like a robot that, once created, can run your business on its own. Of course it is not really that simple, but if you go about it right it can end up that way.

Imagine if you had a privately owned business that already had a frequently visited web site. You possibly might already have one. While that business is being run by you (ie: your every day routine) the web site can, and frankly should, be making you money all on its own.

All you really need to earn income in that fashion is someone to advertise on your web site. This is surprisingly easy to do as there are many business set up that do nothing but stick advertising on web sites such as yours and offer a share of the per click commission.

An extremely successful example of this is Google. While they are far from earning income passively—they are constantly working hard and expanding in order to stay on top of the competition—they could be earning passive income easily. If Google were left to its own devices people would still go there to search, adds would appear and income would be made.

Naturally you would not want to be advertising your competition on your web site, but that does not mean ads can not appear. If your business is a shoe store than there are a number of related companies that would love to attract your clientele. By hosting that ad you are able to make money even when the potential client doesn’t end up purchasing from you.

If you do not have a business online and you don’t have one to put online that doesn’t mean this kind of income is beyond your reach. On the contrary, it just means that you will have to invest a bit of time and money into the project first.

Mainly you’ll need to come up with a web site concept that can draw people’s attention and attract visitors. This may be an information site, an e-book, a blog, etc. You don’t need millions of hits to get ads placed on your site but the more hits you get the more you can charge for those ads and, naturally, the more those ads will be clicked. The good news is that once the site is up and running even if it only attracts a small amount of traffic those people will still be making you money, though a smaller amount, while you’re off doing something else.
