Studies in Marketing will prepare professionals for managing processes of developing consumer bases and moving products from the producer to the consumer through marketplaces. Studies should include principles of Marketing research, analysis of product demand and consumer behavior, pricing, accounting, the cost and volume in relation to profit margins, methods and means of advertising, ethical practices and business law, demographics and consumer relations, and management.
In addition to familiarity with business practices and strong analytical skills, Marketing employees should have strong communication skills, people skills, creativity, and the ability to work under pressure.
Marketing experience, such as in sales or management, may allow for the possibility of earning credit for "life experience" or for testing out of subject areas that may have been mastered through experience.
Graduates of a Marketing program should be prepared to assume a broad range of responsibilities. Opportunities can be found in brand management, business development, research and analysis, product management, product Marketing, and product promotions.
