Enrollment in professional flight schools does not come cheap, so it only makes sense to make sure that the school offers you the best training and price possible. Here are the questions you should ask when comparing schools and deciding which one to go with.

Does the school have all the necessary equipment? At the very least, a professional flight training school should have a basic trainer aircraft, a single-engine trainer, a multi-engine trainer and a global positioning system capable of detecting other aircraft around you. This helps make sure that you are safe while on training. The school should also have complete flight training aids and simulators. Most importantly, it should have alliances with major airlines and aviation training facilities so that you can get on-the-job training.

Does the school offer a college degree? Why settle for a flying certificate when you can also warn a college degree for the amount you are paying? Most professional schools these days tie up with colleges and universities to give students a chance to earn a college diploma for passing their flight training courses. Students are typically just required to attend about 40 hours (or less) of college credit.

Is the tuition fee reasonable? The average tuition fee for 500 hours of flight training for students who want to become commercial pilots is about $50,000 to $60,000. Anything more than that is expensive, unless justified.

Does it offer post-graduate support? Many professional flight schools now provide their students ‘guaranteed hire’ programs. They set up job interview opportunities for their graduates with their airline alliances. This could help you find a job after you get your license.
