The 7 Laws of Football QuarterbackingIn all of my research, over a period of several years, the finest information I have ever read on quarterback leadership came from my friend Frank Carideo. The purpose of this information was to outline the process by which a quarterback was trained at Notre Dame, under Coach Knute Rockne. This course of quarterbacking was as exacting in many respects as any collegiate course.
Coach Rockne had seven cardinal principles of quarterbacking that were preached over and over again.

Winning at NFL Football There is an old misconception among fans that a great defense is needed to win at NFL football. The problem with that philosophy is that your highly talented defensive teams would be worn out due to being on the field too long. Also, a few key injuries to a few skilled players can mean the difference between last and first.

When I Really Look Forward to the SeasonI like it better when my favorite teams are expected to do poorly. That way, they have everything to gain and nothing to lose (while just the opposite is true when they are supposed to do well). If they have a tough season, they (and their fans) can always come back with the excuse that nothing was expected from them anyway, so what's the big deal?
NFL Fantasy Football Mock Draft ResultsOn Sunday afternoon at 5:00 pm EST, I participated in a mock draft for FantasyInsiderOnline. This was a 9 man league, and I had the fourth selection of the draft. My middle selection was kind of lousy, but I made the most of it. Below, you will see each pick that I made, and a reason why I took that player. For a complete overview of how the draft went...
Dallas Cowboys' Game Analysis: Pre-Season Week 1 vs Seattle SeahawksInteresting twists in the starting front seven. Two guys I doubt will
make the team (Scott Shanle and Kenyon Coleman) started. I
think this is kind of a last chance for these guys to show
improvement. Unless injuries hit, there is no way Shanle makes
the teams at LB. There are too many young guys with more
upside ahead of him in my opinion.

Jets vs. Redskins PreviewAfter the Jets 16-3 loss last week to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a lot was talked about regarding the lack of production from the running game. Clearly for the Jets to compete this season, they will need a healthy Curtis Martin to return to the team, or a suprising emergence out of Cedric Houston or Leon Washington. Derrick Blaylock has been a disappointment since signing before last season, and has yet to show he is capable of running between the tackles.
Ness Notes for August 18The Chiefs used four QBs last night and they combined to complete 13 of 24 passes for a total of just 90 yards. Seven Chiefs carried the ball at least once, gaining 40 yards (17 attempts), as the team gained a pathetic 111 net yards (seven FDs) in their 17-0 loss to the Giants. In last night's other game, the Eagles jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter but never scored again, eventually losing to the Ravens, 20-10.
2006 Bears PreviewEveryone is expecting nothing less than a division championship out of the 2006 Bears football team. There isn't a lot of change to talk about over last year's 11-5 team, as the Bears bring back every one of the 22 starters from a year ago.

Ernie Accorsi Picks the Right Man in KiwanukaBack in April, on the 2006 NFL Draft Day, Ernie Accorsi shocked the football world by taking a defensive end by the name of Mathias Kiwanuka of Boston College. Kiwanuka being selected in the First Round of the draft wasn't the shocker in this instance, but rather it was Accorsi selecting another defensive end when the Giants had other problems to address on the defensive side of the ball. If the first preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens is any indication of how this latest pick by the Giants will turn out, it seems to me that the Giants hit the jackpot with this guy. Ernie Accorsi said himself that "you can never have enough pass rushers", and he's right! Being able to rush the passer effectively, which forces the quarterback to throw the ball into coverage, will cover up some of the weaknesses of the secondary.
Fantasy Football Draft Advice: Drafting and Bye WeeksDuring your fantasy football draft you must remember to account for player bye weeks. It is an obvious part of drafting your team but it can easily be forgotten. There are several reasons why drafting with bye weeks in mind can be the difference between winning and losing.
