Do you have what it takes to run your own business?
Certainly the rise of the Internet has made self-employment more of a possibility than ever before in addition to new offline opportunities you might consider.
People who are tired of the corporate world might consider starting up their own business but often they wonder if they have what it takes to become an entrepreneur and if so, what exactly should they do in terms of a specific business type?
Today's fad could be forgotten tomorrow so choosing a line of business is just as important as determining if self employment is actually something you can do.
Often, the best way to learn about something you want to know more about is to go right to the source. In other words, find people who have already done what you want to do, and find out how they did it.
You can certainly locate resources on and offline that might help you learn more about running your own business but one of the best ways to cut to the chase is to speak with people who are already doing what you'd like to do.
People generally like talking about themselves so if you can identify someone who is self employed in a field that you are interested in, you might contact them and ask for 20 minutes of their time on the phone or perhaps ask to meet them for a coffee to learn more about what they do and how they did it.
There are an increasing number of opportunities for self employment but before quitting your fulltime job to work for yourself, you certainly need to do your research and carefully decide whether it's something you want to do and further, whether it's something you could do well.
