New third generation (3g) mobile phones are now available that makes it possible for phone users to do much more than was hitherto possible. For instance, 3g phones can be used for video calling, wherein mobile phone users are able to see the person that they are talking to in real time!
The features and functions of the latest mobile phones initially aroused the curiosity of phone users. And when they experienced the advanced capabilities of the latest mobile phone handsets for the first time, they became highly elated! As of now, they want to possess the latest and the best handsets, which they believe would help them both in their personal as well as professional lives.
And that is exactly what they are doing. Mobile phone users are subscribing to contract mobile phone deals on the latest camera mobile phones, 3g mobile phones, tri-band mobile phones, etc. They are purchasing handsets with in-built mp3 players as well as those with mobile music options. However, new mobile phones being bought in the UK are more often than not contract mobile phones. Moreover, several online mobile phone shops, offering cheap mobile phones to users, have come up in the last couple of years.
The type of handset that a person possesses has become the social yardstick through which the success or failure in his life is being measured. The social standing of a person is being dictated by the type of mobile phone handset that he or she owns.

The expectations of mobile phone users have increased concomitantly with the enhancement of the features and functions of the latest mobiles. Phone users have started expecting a whole lot more from the mobile phones of the future. For instance, they would want their handsets to respond to touch; they would like it very much if their mobile phones were “intelligent” enough to gauge the outside environment. They also want to watch television programs in their mobile phone handsets. And all the different players in the telecommunications sector including handset manufacturers, network operators and retailers are doing their bit to realize this dream!
