Finding it difficult to focus on your business during the warm months? Here are some tips to help you keep your business going strong while still having a great summer.
Summer is the time for family fun. The kids are out of school, and work at home moms get to spend plenty of time with them. Sometimes it's hard to stay focused on business this time of year, with all of our fun warm-weather activities. But many of us can't afford the luxury of a summer of slacking! So how do we keep the money coming in while still having a great summer? Here are a few ideas.
Many families take car trips this time of year. Why not let your car do the advertising for you? You can get magnets, decals or bumper stickers with your web address or other contact information printed on them without making a huge investment. Just do a search for custom car decals, bumper stickers, or car magnets and you will find lots of companies that make them.
Another thing to remember during travel, or just trips to the pool or grocery store: Always keep a supply of catalogs, business cards, and other promotional materials handy. You never know when or where you may find a potential customer! Keep a tote bag prefilled with your materials, and some samples if you have them, in your car or next to the back door. Then you can just grab it and go!
When you're having fun at home, it's hard to think about working. Many moms try to work early in the morning or late at night, when everyone else is in bed. It is a great way to get some uninterrupted work done. Just remember not to overdo it. You don't want to be up at all hours and be worn out the next day. That defeats the whole purpose!
Do you find yourself getting sidetracked often? Try making a to do list and posting it in a conspicuous place. Dry erase boards are ideal for this purpose. Put it in a place where you will see it often and mark off or erase the items as you get them done. You'll be surprised how much more you will get done just by having your list staring you in the face.
One of the main reasons that work at home moms choose to work at home is to spend more time with their children. Summer is the best time to do that because school is out and the weather is warm. By using these simple tips you can have a great summer and still keep your business going strong.
