Peyz's 6 Pentakills Are Not Enough to Cover T1's Weaknesses
| Cross-checked: VuaBong.vn
In a decisive match at LCK, T1 defeated BFX in game 5 thanks to a stellar performance by Peyz, who recorded his 6th career pentakill – an unprecedented record in League of Legends history. But no matter how impressive that number is, it cannot hide the tactical flaws that are becoming increasingly apparent for T1 this season.
Peyz joined T1 about 8 months ago and immediately became the centerpiece of the team's playstyle. He possesses near-perfect kill-securing ability, often keeping hope alive for T1 in dire situations. However, this over-reliance on Peyz is a double-edged sword. His pentakill count is triple Faker's total over 13 years, but this comparison is inherently meaningless: an ADC naturally has more cleanup opportunities than a mid laner.
T1's current strategy revolves around funneling all resources to Peyz, forcing the top laner to play weakside with non-resource-dependent champions. This works when Peyz explodes, but fails miserably against opponents with strong bot laners like Gumayusi, Ruler, or Smash – who can lock down Peyz from the laning phase. When Peyz is stifled, T1's entire system collapses, as there is no other reliable damage source.
Doran, the top laner, is a critical weakness. In many matches, his mistakes have nullified the advantages Peyz created. Playing weakside means every error is magnified, as he lacks the gold to compensate. Meanwhile, Faker occasionally shines with champions like Yone, but that is not enough to form a consistent secondary win condition.
The paradox of T1 is: the more they elevate Peyz, the more one-dimensional they become. Strong teams like HLE or Gen.G rarely give T1 chances to turn the game around. They know: just shut down Peyz, and the match is over. T1 seems trapped in this playstyle, because every time they try to change, the overall damage output drops noticeably.
Peyz is an outstanding young talent, and 6 pentakills are proof of his extraordinary individual skill. But esports is not just about highlights. T1 needs a more diverse strategy, where not only Peyz, but also Faker, Doran, and other positions can carry when needed. Otherwise, record numbers will just be a disguise for a team whose cracks are becoming impossible to repair.
The lesson from the BFX match is clear: one pentakill cannot save an entire system. T1 stands at a crossroads: either continue nurturing their 'golden goose' Peyz or restructure to become more unpredictable. History has shown that true championship teams never put all their eggs in one basket.
